Borrowing From Other Libraries

If you wish to obtain a book, article, or audio visual from another library you may request the item through Interlibrary Loan.

Students at Anderson University also have borrowing privileges at the Anderson County Library, but you will need to register for a Library Card.

Also, every academic library in SC will loan items to current students and faculty at any college in SC. Circulation rules will vary from library to library, and some may charge to create a Library Card.

To utilize this privilege you must first obtain a signed check out card from your library (available at the Front Desk) good for the current semester.

Circulation Policies

Our general circulation policies are as follows:

  • Books - 3 WEEK CHECKOUT
  • Media - CDs and DVDs - 3 WEEK CHECKOUT
  • Curriculum Lab Materials -  3 WEEK CHECKOUT
  • Current Periodicals - 3 DAY CHECKOUT - (all except the most recent issue)
  • Students are limited to 20 items except for special situations (senior papers, etc.)
  • All of the above are renewable, in person, by phone, or online.
  • Special rules/check out periods apply to  items on Reserve.
  • You MUST have your university ID to check out books! (available through security)
  • Students with unreturned books will be blocked from checking out more until their account is settled.

End of the Semester

All books are due at the end of the semester - on or around the last day of class. This is done to allow the library time to check in and reshelve the massive number of returned books before we lose our student workers.

However, if you need to keep books beyond the end of the semester due date, you still have a nine-day grace period (see above for explanation).

If you wish to check out a book after the end of the semester due date for a class assignment, that's fine. Just explain your need to a librarian.

If you wish to check out a book over Christmas break, again, that's fine. Just explain your need to a librarian.

Who Can Check out Books?

Anyone with a current Anderson University ID. Students, faculty and staff.

NOTE: A drivers license or photo ID will work IF the patron is already in the computer.

Alumni do not enjoy borrowing privileges.

Faculty Emeriti do.

How Do I Renew Books Online?

The circulation policies for eBooks vary depending on the eBook provider. For instance:

eBooks on EBSCOhost content may be checked out (downloaded) for 1-7 days, and you get to choose the circulation period.

SpringerLink content may be downloaded for unlimited use and have no due date.

Content in some databases, such as Credo Reference or GVRL, may only be used online.

There are never any fines associated with eBooks.
