Students can search for information, play games, quiz themselves, and get homework help. This site can be used in the classroom when doing projects and/or papers that the students need to gather information for. This site builds knowledge by providing students with a vast amount of information they must search through and choose the information they will use. The students can learn about many different topics using "Fact Monster."

This site that is aligned with state standards, including South Carolina, for mathematics. It offers word problems at all different levels and practice for standardized tests. This site could be used in the classroom for enrichment purposes. Students could use their skills learned in the classroom and apply them to word problems found on this site. "Math Stories" is a builder of knowledge because it offers students a way to use their skills learned it class differently than just completing a simple problem. They have to use higher order thinking skills in order to complete the computation.
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)
Contains an abundance of resources for mathematics educators at all levels including 500+ lesson plans with downloadable worksheets, NCTM standards. Includes the Illuminations feature which describes real life situations in which mathematics can be used, Curriculum Focal Points which list important math topics for each grade level as well related ideas, concepts, skills, and procedures.
