Online Reference Assistance

NOTE: For in depth assistance you may wish to schedule a reference interview with one of the Library Liaisons.

The Thrift Library strives to accommodate our students enrolled in classes from a distance.  Please see the information below regarding services available specifically for Distance Education Students.

NOTE: "Distance Education Students" refers to students who are truly "distant" from campus, and whose only means of access to the library's services and resources is electronic- telephone and internet - or mail.  Anyone who takes on-campus classes, or whose online class contains an on-campus component, is not eligible for these additional services.

Additional Library Services for Distance Education Students

Because Distance Education students are unable to visit the campus library and use it's physical resources, library service to Distance Education students includes two additional features:

  • Interlibrary Loan Requests are mailed to the user.
  • The library's physical holdings - books, videos, etc are mailed to the user. In the case of articles available only in a physical format - bound, unbound, microfilm, etc. - the content is digitized and emailed whenever allowable by copyright.

NOTE: All of the library's digital collection - databases, eBooks, streaming audio and video, etc, is easily available online.

For more information related to these services, please see our policies:
