COVID 19 Rules - Ask-A-Librarian - Need help?

COVID-19 Rules - Books

  • Open stacks.
  • Three day quarantine of returned books.
  • Self check out – Students check out their own books at the Front Desk using bar code readers facing outwards. Student workers will coach hem through the process.
  • Check out receipts emailed.

COVID-19 Rules - Computers, Printers

  • Computers have been spread out to provide social distancing.
  • We have more computer than last year.
  • Students are asked to wipe keyboards and mice before use.
  • Wipes are available near computers.
  • Gloves are available at Front Desk if desired.
  • Limit to one half hour when others are waiting.

COVID-19 Rules - Course Reserves

  • Wash hands before and after use.
  • Gloves available upon request.

Digital alternatives.

  • Whereever possible digital reserves will be provided to substitute for physical reserves. Faculty will be given links to post in Canvas. Students can also discover digital materials by searching OneSearch.
  • Digital reserves may be for one user, three users, or unlimited users - depending on availability. Please do not download digital reserves. Read online and leave them accessible to the next person.

The library will provide digital alternatives to physical reserves upon request by:

  • Scanning up to one chapter per book and buying up to three copied of a book.
  • Scanning or linking to articles.
  • Purchasing eBooks.

COVID-19 Rules - Current Periodicals

  • No Newspapers
  • Current Periodicals - Journals and Magazines - Will continue to be displayed.
  • Wash hands before and after use.
  • Gloves are available for reading.

COVID-19 Rules - Digital Substitutes

  • The library will purchase eBooks and other digital substitutes for physical library materials upon request.

COVID-19 Rules - Food and Drink

  • No coffee due to the use of face masks.
  • Food is never allowed in the library.

COVID 19 Rules - Personal hygine - Face masks, gloves, social distancing

Personal hygiene

  • Wear face masks.
  • Practice social distancing.
  • Don’t shake hands.
  • Cough into your sleeve. Blow your nose in a tissue, throw it away and wash your hands.
  • Use hand sanitizer.
  • Wash hands for 20 seconds.
  • Use elbows, shoulders, feet to open doors when possible. Many library doors, such as Study Rooms, will remain propped open to encourge air flow.

Gloves

  • Students are asked to use gloves when handling current periodicals and course reserves. Gloves are available at the Front Desk.

Cleaning

  • Cleaning wipes are available near high use areas such as computers, printers, and copier. You are urged to wipe these surfaces clean before use.

COVID-19 Rules - Study Rooms

For your safety, rules for study room usage have changed.

  • No more than two per room.
  • Reservations may be made for up to 2 hours.
  • Please depart ten minutes before the end of your reservation
    • Give the air time to recirculate 
    • Incoming groups may wish to wipe down the furniture
  • Doors should be left open to allow good circulation.
    • They may be shut when viewing media.
  • Everyone is asked to keep their masks on to protect the health of the next ones to use the room.
