VitalSource - eTextbooks

VitalSource is a large provider of eTextbooks that partners with our bookstore. During the rest of the semester a limited number of textbooks will provided free of cost to AU students. The only way to know if your textbook has been selected for free access is to search the site.

  • Users create a personal account using their AU email name.
  • They can download up to 7 books through May 25
  • Titles can be loaded onto LMS systems.
  • To access books offline, users need to download a free app.
  • It is unclear how many pertinent titles are available. They do not provide a list.
  • Students may download ebooks on two desktop/laptops and two mobile devices.
  • Printing restrictions are set by each publisher.


  • Upon arriving at the website create a personal account using your AU email address.
  • Search by author and/or title. 
  • You can search by ISBN, but the eTextbook ISBN might not match the printed textbooks ISBN.
  • You can read online or download.
  • To download you must first install a free app.
