Poetry Competition: Home

 Competition winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 10 at 7pm in the Vandiver Art Gallery. Published poet Robert Kendrick will also read some of his poems and answer questions about the writing and publishing process.

Grand Prize:

Full Scholarship to The Sun Into the Fire Writing Retreat in Little Switzerland, NC (2018 or 2019)*

Competition Guidelines

Submissions must include:    

1. Submission form
2. Typed copy of poem (Do NOT put your name on your poem.)
3. Due Date Slip for a poetry book that you checked out from the Thrift Library.  See our Poetry book display or click here for recommended reads.

Poems shouldn't be longer than one typed page.

Poems will be judged by faculty and staff members outside of the English department, so poems that are accessible to all may have a better chance of winning. Imagine you're writing poems for Rattle: Poetry | ...without pretension since 1995. 

All submissions are due to the Thrift Library Circulation Desk by midnight on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. 

Students can submit as many poems as they want, but each poem entry requires a separate submission form. 

You must be a current Anderson University student to enter the contest.
